Dele Alli sent strong warning about his Tottenham future after Jose Mourinho's latest decision

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has been warned he risks 'filtering away' if he doesn't get his act together.

That's the verdict of former Spurs player Jamie O'Hara, who was discussing Alli's situation on TalkSport.

Alli was once again left out of the Tottenham matchday squad for Tuesday night's Carabao Cup clash with Chelsea.

The England midfielder has played just two games so far this season and been left out of four of the past five matchday squads.

It has sparked speculation over whether he has a future in north London beyond the end of the transfer window.

And O'Hara, who was on Spurs' books between 2005 and 2011, believes Alli needs to listen to the advice around him to avoid falling by the wayside.

O'Hara said: "Harry Redknapp did the same thing to me. He bombed me out the squad to try and teach me a lesson and I didn't learn my lesson. And I ended up filtering away.

"The same thing will happen to Dele Alli if he doesn't listen.

"He needs to get himself focused again, playing football and staying off social media and getting himself back to being a character and leader in the dressing room.

"If he can't get in the Carabao Cup side and he can't get in the squad then something is seriously wrong.

"When you're a young lad you think you know everything and he'll be sitting there thinking I've been treated like this or I've scored 50 goals in the Premier League and I'm a top player but what he doesn't realise is that they're actually trying to help him.

"Harry Redknapp and other people will be trying to give him advice because we know the talent is there in the player and if he does the right things he still has a massive future at Tottenham Hotspur.

"But don't be a Jamie O'Hara that filters away because he doesn't listen to the advice that people have given him who have had experience of the game and fall away."
