Spurs midfielder Dele Alli has sent a strong message to new boss Nuno Espirito Santo ahead of the team’s return for pre-season.
The England man endured a hugely inconsistent campaign throughout last season, falling in and out of favour with former head coach Jose Mourinho.
In the end, he was afforded just 29 outings in all competitions for Spurs throughout 2020/21, netting just three goals in the process.
He was handed another chance by interim boss Ryan Mason towards the end of the campaign, starting the final five Premier League matches of the season but failed to get on the scoresheet.
However, he now has a fresh chance to impress heading into next season with former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo having been installed as the club’s new boss by replacing compatriot Jose Mourinho.
As a result, Alli has sent a message to his new manager ahead of the club’s return for pre-season with the first fixture against Leyton Orient scheduled to take place in just over two weeks’ time.
A clash with Alli's former club MK Dons then follows just nine days later, with Spurs' 2021/22 Premier League season set to begin on Wednesday August 4.
The midfielder took to social media platform Instagram with a picture of him lifting weights at The Campus in Portugal.
The post was also accompanied with a defiant caption reading: “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. I’m ready.”
Having endured a frustrating season, Alli has been granted the summer to prepare for next campaign with his omission from England’s Euro 2020 squad.
He had previously been included in the Three Lions’ squad for Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
