Dele Alli reveals how Son Heung-Min reacted to Andre Gomes' horror injury during Tottenham draw

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has told Sky Sports that Son Heung-Min 'can't even pick his head up' after his involvement in Andre Gomes' horror injury.

The Everton midfielder suffered a suspected broken ankle after being tripped by the Spurs forward and then colliding into Serge Aurier.

The incident caused a lengthy delay to proceedings at Goodison Park, with 12 minutes of stoppage time added on.

After receiving treatment on the field, Gomes was stretchered off the field and rushed to hospital.

Son, who was visibly distraught from the incident, was initially shown a yellow card before referee Martin Atkinson decided to brandish a straight red.

Similarly, Aurier, who was visibly affected, was substituted by Mauricio Pochettino shortly after the incident and replaced by Juan Foyth.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Alli has revealed how distraught Son is with the incident and sent his best wishes to Gomes on behalf of the whole Tottenham squad.

Alli said: "It's not nice. I didn't want to look too much at what happened. We just have to send him our best wishes, he's an amazing footballer and you hate to see that happen.

"We've just been into the dressing room now and he's (Son) devastated, he's in tears. It's not his fault, Son is one of the nicest people in football, he'd never mean to do something like that and if you saw his reaction you'd know that. He can't even pick his head up, he's crying so much.

"It's not something you want to see happen to anyone so all the best to him."

Alli added: "It does play on your mind but you have to stay professional, there was still 12 minutes added time and you have to try to stay focused.

"Unfortunately, we switched off for a split second and they scored. We'll have to pick ourselves up for the next game and send him our best wishes."
