Dele Alli opens up on Champions League final heartbreak and how Liverpool will be Tottenham's inspiration

Tottenham Hotspur ace Dele Alli has spoken out on the heartbreak he felt following loss to Liverpool in last season's Champions League final.

The Reds were victorious after an early penalty from Mohamed Salah and a late strike from Divock Origi rounded off a 2-0 win which saw Jurgen Klopp's men triumph in Madrid.

Speaking during Spurs' pre-season tour of Asia, Alli admitted: "Obviously it was difficult to take - getting to the final and not getting over the line.

"It was a great campaign but it was heartbreaking not to have won the final.

"We are disappointed as a team but we've got to try and use it to our advantage for next season," The England international added.

"We've got to take the positives and try and use it to drive us on this season.

"We've just got to try and use it as an advantage and use the hurt we felt after the game - and the hurt that we're still feeling now when we think about it.

Liverpool lost the Champions League final against Real Madrid in 2018 and bounced back against all the odds to be crowned winners the following year.
