Dele Alli has said he believes that Tottenham deserve to win a trophy, but warns that they will have to continue fighting to do so.
Spurs came from 2-1 down in their FA Cup fourth round replay to defeat Southampton 3-2 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, setting up a fifth round tie with Norwich City.
The turnaround in north London keeps alive Spurs' hopes of winning the FA Cup this season and ending a 12-year domestic trophy drought, having not won any silverware since lifting the League Cup in 2008.
That is despite Spurs having reached the final of the Champions League last season, only to lose to Liverpool in Madrid, while they have also lost two League Cup finals since their last triumph.
And Alli admits that Tottenham need to win a trophy for their fans as he made a big statement about Spurs in recent seasons.
“It is massive. I think it is a long time coming. We have shown we are one of the best teams, not just in England, but in the world throughout the years we have been together,” he told BT Sport after the win against Southampton.
“I think we deserve a trophy, but no-one is going to give it to us, we have to fight every day, every game, and every training session, we have to keep pushing each other and keep improving.
“It is games like this when we have to show our character and keep this momentum in all competitions.
“I think we need to, not just for us, but for the fans as well, we need to win something.”
