Dele Alli makes Frank Lampard and Everton fans claim after deadline day transfer

Dele Alli has revealed wanting to be 'happy playing football' and working alongside Frank Lampard were the key reasons behind his permanent move to Everton.

The 25-year-old has joined the Blues on an initial free transfer, though £10million must be paid to former club Tottenham Hotspur after he reaches 20 appearances and could rise to £40m in total depending on other clauses in his two-and-a-half year deal.

It has been a challenging few years for the English midfielder in the capital, having fallen out of favour at Spurs and missed out on winning trophies such as the Champions League and Carabao Cup.

His Goodison Park move brings to an end his seven-year spell with the Lilywhites, though the former MK Dons academy graduate is ready to embrace this change of scenery and fresh challenge.

"I'm very excited. It has been a long day but we got there in the end and I'm delighted," he told Sky Sports after his move was officially completed.

Explaining the role Frank Lampard played in his decision to depart Spurs, Alli added: "I've had a few good conversations with him already.

"He is a player I admired my whole career and to have the opportunity to work with him is exciting. I'm sure we're going to do great things together.

"I just want to be happy playing football. Working with Lampard and all the great players they've got there, I think it's a great opportunity for me to do that and I'm excited to go there and show the fans what I can do and help the club as much as I can."
