Delays on A1 near Leeds as van careers off road and down embankment into bushes

A slip road on the A1(M) near Leeds has been completely closed after a van careered off the road and down an embankment.

Emergency services were called to the scene at junction 44 for Braham Crossroads just after 10am this morning, July 15.

The Northbound entry slip road had to be fully closed.

A picture from the scene shows the van completely covered by bushes down the embankment.

A tweet from Highways England Yorkshire said: "#A1M J44 #BrahamCrossroads Northbound entry slip.

"Full closure of slip road for recovery of vehicle which is currently down the embankment.

"Please allow extra time for your journey."

West Yorkshire Police confirmed that no one had been injured in the accident and that it was damage only.

The crash only caused minor delays this morning for motorists heading along the route.
