Delays expected on trains due to 'trespassers on railway'

There are delays on some trains in Greater Manchester this morning due to 'trespassers on the railway'.

Several Northern, TransPennine Express and Transport for Wales services are affected, according to the National Rail website.

Delays are expected on services between Oxford Road, Eccles and Earlestown.

Trains are running at a reduced speed because of trespassers on the train near Astley.

National Rail say the issue is expected to be resolved by around 9.30am.

In a tweet, TfGM said: "Rail services between #OxfordRoad, #Eccles & #Earlestown may be subject to delay this morning, due to an earlier incident near #Astley.

"Check with @nationalrailenq before setting off.

"Plan ahead for an easier journey".
