Delap and Torres start - the starting XI Man City fans want to see vs Bournemouth

Manchester City fans want Pep Guardiola to give full debuts to young striker Liam Delap and new signing Ferran Torres for the Carabao Cup clash with Bournemouth.

Torres made his debut against Wolves on Monday night, coming off the bench for the final nine minutes in City's opening day Premier League win.

After that game, Guardiola admitted the injury problems in his squad, coupled with the hectic fixture schedule at the start of this season, means that he will be forced to play a number of academy players for the visit of Bournemouth.

And fans want to see prolific 17-year-old striker Delap given his debut after being named on the bench at Molineux.

When MEN Sport asked fans to pick their best starting XI, the most popular team included Delap and fellow youngsters Tommy Doyle, Adrian Bernabe and Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

With new back-up goalkeeper Zack Steffen being picked to replace Ederson in goal, fans chose a new-look back four of Eric Garcia, Harwood-Bellis, Nicolas Otamendi and Nathan Ake.

New signing Ake played the full 90 minutes at centre-back on Monday, but could be moved to full-back to allow Benjamin Mendy a rest. Garcia has returned to training following a head injury.

In midfield, fans want to see Tommy Doyle, fresh from signing a new long-term contract, rewarded with a start in the holding role, with Phil Foden and Adrian Bernabe ahead of him.

And up front, continuing the youthful feel of the side, fans wanted 20-year-old Torres to be handed his full debut, with Delap in the centre and Riyad Mahrez on the right to provide some experience.

Man City fans XI: Steffen; Garcia, Harwood-Bellis, Otamendi, Ake; Doyle, Foden, Bernabe; Torres, Mahrez, Delap.
