Delaney's Belfast: A look back at one of the city's favourite lost restaurants

Belfast has lost its fair share of iconic eateries over the years.

We decided to take a look back at one of Belfast city centre's former favourite restaurants to relive its fond memories.

The corner where Lombard Street and Rosemary Street meet used to be home to Delaney's restaurant - the perfect place to refuel after a day out in the city.

Those who were lucky enough to have paid the restaurant a visit when it was open would have spent many special occasions here like birthday celebrations or catching up with friends.

Not only was Delaney's a popular spot with locals, but word has it that it was visited by the likes of Julia Roberts back in the day.

It has been hailed as one of the greatest diners Belfast has ever known. Back in the day, it was the go-to spot on a Saturday morning for those who had spent the previous night dancing their socks off in Paradise Lost.

Many will fondly remember Delaney's for its tasty lasagne and for its sweet treats too, like the delicious apple pie and strawberry pavlova.

Along with the food, the interior will have lasting memories in our minds - all the bits and bobs on the walls and who remembers the booths? The snug booths would have seen many teenage romances blossom as couples cuddled up sharing Delaney's infamous cheesecake.

Not only will Delaney's be remembered as a lunchtime spot or for their great coffee, did you know at the weekend it used to turn into a club? If only the walls could talk, we're sure they would have a story or two to tell!

Sadly, the food establishment closed its doors ten years ago back in 2011 and we have been missing their lemon meringue ever since.

Today, the former diner is now home to the franchise coffee shop Caffe Nero.
