Deland McCullough pens thank you to Chiefs Kingdom, Kansas City

Kansas City Chiefs running backs coach Deland McCullough shared a note addressed to fans and Kansas City on Twitter.

McCullough is set to rejoin the Indiana University coaching staff following the 2020 NFL season. He previously coached the running backs for the Hoosiers from 2011-2016. He’s been with the Chiefs as running backs coach since the 2018 season back when Eric Bieniemy took over as offensive coordinator.

In his note, McCullough sought to thank the Chiefs Kingdom and the Kansas City community for the warm welcome over the last three years, also reflecting on his time with the team during the past three years.

Check it out:

“I would like to thank the Chiefs Kingdom and the Kansas City area for embracing me and my family the last 3 years. Andy Reid and the rest of the staff gave me an opportunity to contribute to the rise of a dynasty and grow as a coach. Special shout out to all my RBs over the last 3 years!!! The mutual trust, respect, and bond we built will last far beyond the successes we experienced on the football field. Thanks for everything!!!”

During his time in Kansas City, McCullough coached players like Kareem Hunt, Damien Williams, Darrel Williams, Darwin Thompson and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. He clearly left a big impact on a number of his players with the Chiefs and will be missed as a teacher and leader.
