Del Amitri to play free Barrowlands show for NHS workers

Del Amitri are set to play a free show for Scottish NHS staff at the Barrowlands .

The gig on Wednesday December 9 – their first in two years – is a tribute to frontline health workers who are making "huge sacrifices" during the coronavirus crisis.

Frontman Justin Currie said: "In these dark days, with not a huge amount to look forward to, we just thought this gig would make for a great pre-Christmas night out for all those Scottish NHS workers who’ve gone above and beyond these last few weeks, and possibly have a harder few weeks ahead.

"It’ll be our first show in over two years and it’s at Barrowland Ballroom, a sort of heaven for us and what better way to get out of this hell? It’s just our small way of saying thank you… and we promise we won’t play that football song.”

Del Amitri’s current line-up features core members Justin Currie (vocals/bass), Iain Harvie (guitar) and Andy Alston (keys/percussion), along with Kris Dollimore (guitar) and Ash Soan (drums) who have been with the band since the late ‘90s.

Tickets will be limited to two per person (eligible staff and one guest) and will be available online only via Ticketmaster from 10am this Friday, April 10.
