Deji tells Floyd Mayweather "one punch" plan during face-off ahead of clash

YouTube star Deji joked that he is hoping to land at least "one punch" during his face-off with Floyd Mayweather ahead of their exhibition clash.

The British star - real name Oljadeji Olatunji - will touch gloves with one of the boxing's biggest stars in the shape of legend Mayweather at the Coca Cola Arena next Saturday night. The YouTube star received the opportunity after impressing in his maiden win over YouTube rival Fousey in August, and it will see him become the latest opponent of the former champion in his lucrative exhibition series.

Despite no official result set to be declared with no judges in place to score the exhibition contest, Mayweather is anticipated by many to dominate proceedings given his wealth of experience in the ring. And the YouTube star has already set a simple goal in the fight, insisting he is in the fight to have fun and showcase his skills.

“I’m looking to land a punch,” Deji said when sat with upcoming opponent Mayweather during a press conference to promote their showdown. "That would be amazing of course against the best defensive fighter in the world. So, I’m looking to have fun, I’m looking to showcase my skills and show what YouTubers can do.

“Me being in there with Floyd is only going to enhance my skills in boxing and push me further up the ladder. Then I’m going to keep dominating the YouTube boxing scene after. Me fighting Floyd in itself is a big win, I’m not afraid of what’s to come. If you’re scared of getting knocked out, you shouldn’t be fighting.”

Olatunji had lost in three fights prior to his recent win over Fousey, first succumbing on points to rising star Jake Paul before being edged by TikTok star Vinnie Hacker and fellow content creator Alex Wassabi. However he put in a much improved display last time out to pick up a stoppage, and earn huge plaudits for his win after threatening to retire from the sport.

And he has praised his opponent for accepting the clash, encouraging the Briton to take his chance with the odds already stacked against him.

He said: “I’m going to go out there and just have fun, I’ve done this so many times, so this is just another day. We never overlook anyone. Have I ever seen him fight? Absolutely not, but throughout my career I never watched tapes on my opponents, I just do what I do.

“All the cards are stacked against you anyway, so you deserve credit foe just accepting the fight. I’m going to let you be the tough guy and I’ll just sit back and take it easy.”
