Dejan Lovren 'ready to accept' Roma transfer as clubs capitalise on 'strong relationship'

Dejan Lovren is reportedly ready to accept a summer move to Roma as the Italian side look to capitalise on a 'strong relationship' with Liverpool .

Lovren, 30, was seen as a back-up option for the Giallorossi as they tried to prise Toby Alderweireld away from Tottenham .

But Alderweireld now looks set to stay at Spurs and Roma have turned their attention to Lovren, who struggled for regular starts with the Reds last term.

And Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport say the Croatian is happy to make the move in order to secure more regular football.

Lovren was initially valued at around £18million but Roma are seemingly confident of landing him for somewhere between £11million and £12million due to their relationship with Liverpool.

Alisson and Mohamed Salah both left Roma for Anfield and the two sides played against each other in the Champions League semi-finals in 2018.

The Premier League transfer window shuts next week and Roma could reportedly yet make one final offer for Alderweireld, but Lovren is looking like an increasingly more viable option.

Lovren signed for Liverpool in 2014 from Southampton in a £20million deal.

In five years with the Reds, he has scored seven goals in 170 appearances and won his first major honour on Merseyside with the Champions League last term.
