Dejan Lovren provides injury update on Liverpool's Mohamed Salah

Dejan Lovren has given an injury update on Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian superstar suffered a heavy blow to the head after being caught by onrushing Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka before being taken off on a stretcher in Liverpool's dramatic 3-2 win at St James' Park on Saturday night.

The Reds attacker , who scored in the first half, required lengthy treatment before being replaced by matchwinner Divock Origi in the 73rd-minute.

That win means the Premier League title race is going down to the wire but the big question is whether Salah will play a part in the coming week's action, with the Reds also welcoming Barcelona to Anfield in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final tie on Tuesday.

It is still unclear over whether he will be available but the good news for Liverpool is that the forward is 'fine' and despite Lovren cracking a joke at the Egyptian's expense, signs point to him still being in contention to play.

"Wishing @mosalah a quick recovery. We need you back sound my friend," Lovren posted on Instagram.

When asked how Salah is, Lovren replied: "Yes he is okay. (He) just can't remember who I am. Don't worry he will be fine, Mo is a monster."
