Dejan Lovren leaves Liverpool as £11m transfer deal complete

Dejan Lovren has left Liverpool to join Zenit St Petersburg.

The centre-back's six-year stay at Anfield came to an end after a deal, believed to be worth almost £11million, was agreed with the Russian Premier League champions.

The Croatian made 185 appearances for the Reds and scored eight goals after joining from Southampton in the summer of 2014.

The club released a statement stating that "everybody would like to thank Dejan for his contribution over the years and wish him all the very best in his new challenge."

Lovren was a big character in Jurgen Klopp's squad and played a vital role in helping Liverpool to achieve Champions League victory last term while also collecting Premier League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup during this term.

The defender scoring the winner during a dramatic 4-3 victory over Borussia Dortmund will live long in the memory of every member of the Anfield faithful.
