Celtic firmly secured their grip on the Premiership title with their win over Rangers yesterday.
Ange Postecoglou's men ran out 3-2 winners in the third league installment of the big derby this season.
A deadly double by Kyogo and a strike by Jota were enough to cancel out James Tavernier's brace for the visitors in the Saturday lunchtime kick-off.

Kyogo cementing cult hero status
As if fans couldn't love the Japanese forward any more. The 28-year-old was on fire as he scored twice to help the Hoops on their way to the all-important three points at Parkhead. His strikes mean he's scored in every derby fixture against Rangers so far in 2023, following on his equaliser at Ibrox and then League Cup brace at Hampden. Kyogo is adored by the Celtic faithful. He's proven to be a hit since joining in 2021. He's undoubtedly a strong player of the year candidate and yesterday's star role showed he can cement himself as a true modern-day great at the club. He took both of his goals incredibly well, with his finishes leaving Allan McGregor with no chance between the sticks for Rangers. He's been the real difference between the Glasgow giants this year in games against each other.
Tavernier misses hattrick chance
There were faults in Rangers' team yesterday, but James Tavernier wasn't one of them. The right-back scored his 99th and 100th goals for the Ibrox club as he netted twice on derby day in the east end of Glasgow. His free-kick in the first half was an absolute stunner. The Englishman sent an unstoppable strike past Joe Hart, as it thundered into the net via the crossbar. He then netted Rangers' second to make it 3-2 on the day with a header at the back post, which he sent into the ground, giving Hart no chance again. However, it could have been 101 goals for Tav. He rose for a header at the back stick, on the opposite side this time, beating Greg Taylor to the ball but he headed narrowly wide. The pain was etched on the captain's face. A big chance to level the scoring at 3-3.
Banner banter in the stands
An old favourite with Celtic fans. This classic banner was back on display yesterday as the Hoops faithful sent their message to those of a Rangers persuasion watching on from home. A section of the home support unveiled the banner which reads: 'Is it cold in his shadow?'. The image of Jock Stein then has the shadow of the Champions League trophy in the background. This of course depicts Celtic's 1967 European Cup triumph. The banner refers to the fact that Rangers have not managed to achieve such a feat. A bit of football-friendly banter never did anyone any harm.
Battle fever on the pitch
The derby in Glasgow is always a feisty one on and off the pitch. Yesterday was clearly no different. Around midway through the second half, there was a small collision around the half-way line between Celtic skipper Callum McGregor and Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin. The pair exchanged some verbals, with some camera footage appearing to show some profanities aimed at Raskin by the Scotland international. Fans absolutely love to see that sort of thing. The fierce competitiveness on the field, especially from their captain. Leading by example. In a derby, it's all about the 'us and them' mentality. Raskin held his own, just to be clear. The pair were quickly separated by their respective teammates.
Souttar fails to take the opportunity
There was headline news at 11.15am yesterday when the Rangers team lines landed. Michael Beale's side was dealt a huge blow as Connor Goldson was ruled out. His experience could've proved very useful in hindsight with how this match panned out. But for every injury setback, there is a beneficiary. John Souttar was handed a start as the Scotland international slotted in at the back alongside Ben Davies. However, both players were guilty of catastrophic errors which led directly to Celtic's second and third goals. In regard to Souttar's mistake, he played a very slack backpass to McGregor, which didn't have enough on it nor the angle to reach him, as Jota rounded him to score into an empty net. This was the face of a man who knew he'd messed up badly. He's got some work to do yet to convince that he's the answer to Rangers' centre-back conundrum.
