Defensive end Ezekiel Ansah to return to Seahawks practice next week

Seahawks defensive end Ezekiel Ansah is finally set to make his return to the practice field as early as next week. Seattle signed the veteran free agent this spring to bolster the pass rush.

Sidelined all offseason recovering from shoulder surgery, Ansah recently suffered a groin injury which has prolonged his return.

“His shoulder is fine – he’s as strong as he’s ever been,” coach Pete Carroll said Friday. “He came flying back in the last three or four weeks in that regard, so he’s fine there. It’s just a matter of getting the groin to quiet down so it doesn’t reoccur.”

The plan is for Ansah to log at least a little time this summer before the start of the regular season. Although he’s been running, he’s missed out on valuable drill work.

“I think that’s really important and I hope we can put that together,” Carroll explained. “If he has to do it in one week’s time, we will. I’d like to get two weeks under his belt.”
