Oct. 13--A couple of bow-and-arrow wielding deer hunters found a human skull in the Angeles National Forest and authorities are trying to identify it.
The hunters found the skull about 5:30 p.m. Monday on a cliffside off Glendora Ridge Road, the sheriff's department said.
The closest landmark to the skull was mile marker 10.5, which sits on a winding, paved road through the forest. After the discovery, the hunters alerted the sheriff's department, which sent out a team to search for more remains.

Though additional bones were found Tuesday morning, investigators have not determined what pieces of a skeleton they are, officials said. The age, gender and cause of death for the person whose remains were found have yet to be determined.
"It's a daunting task, it's really limited information," said sheriff's Lt. Steve Jauch.
A preliminary review of the skull didn't reveal any obvious signs of a cause of death, he said.
The Los Angeles County coroner is working with sheriff's homicide detectives on the case. The hunters were in the area looking for deer, officials said. The deer-hunting season opened a few weeks ago for bowhunters. Firearms are prohibited, the sheriff's department said.
