Amid a prospering tourism sector in Japan, a renowned park in the Nara region has started offering tips in English, Japanese and Chinese, on how to safely feed wild deer.

Many tourists who had visited the park have complained that they were bitten by the animal, creating a major problem for the park where a special breed of the deer is protected.

Over the last 12 months, 180 injuries were reported, with 138 of the victims being foreigners.

The law preserves more than 1,000 deer at the Nara Park in northern Kyoto. According to the German News Agency, this deer is considered a “living national treasure”.

In order to avoid more scandals, the park’s official have urged the visitors not to provoke or tease the animals while feeding them, and to present them with food offered at the park.
