Addressing the United Nations is an honor under any circumstances and is generally reserved for those holding the levers of power, experts with impeccable credentials, and people who’ve excelled in a specific area of geopolitical interest.
So eyebrows have been raised and heads are in hands that the Trump administration has invited Nicki Minaj to be their representative today. TMZ confirms that Minaj has been invited by Mike Waltz and Trump media advisor Alex Bruesewitz to deliver remarks in New York City today on the subject of violence against Christians in Nigeria.
Waltz has previously praised Minaj as “arguably the greatest female recording artist” and someone who “refuses to remain silent in the face of injustice”.
.@NICKIMINAJ is not only arguably the greatest female recording artist, but also a principled individual who refuses to remain silent in the face of injustice.

I'm grateful she's leveraging her massive platform to spotlight the atrocities against Christians in Nigeria, and I… https://t.co/LOLrU1PZye
The Trump administration’s assertion that Christians are specifically being persecuted in Nigeria has come under sustained attack from Nigerian politicians. They acknowledge that there have been attacks on Christians, but there have been just as many attacks on Muslims.
Nigeria hits back
Kimiebi Ebienfa, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, underlined that Nigeria can deal with its own problems without American intervention:
“The Federal Government of Nigeria will continue to defend all citizens, irrespective of race, creed, or religion. Like America, Nigeria has no option but to celebrate the diversity that is our greatest strength.”
The overall reaction is despondent bafflement that we have gotten to this point:
Right? Like, how and why did we get here?

And it’s safe to say this isn’t a good day for Minaj’s liberal-leaning fanbase:

Minaj has been leaning right for years, though took a bizarre leap in that direcion in Sept. 2021 when she came out against the COVID-19 vaccine. She claimed her cousin’s friend in Trinidad had received it, but had had to call off his wedding after his testicles swelled to grotesque proportions.
Minaj used this as justification for not getting the vaccine and, consequently, not attending that year’s Met Gala. Trinidad’s health ministry investigated Minaj’s story, found no evidence that it was true, and accused her of wasting scarce public health resources.
All of which obviously makes her the perfect candidate to represent the Trump administration at the United Nations!
