'Deep trouble' - Newcastle fans react as relegation rivals pick up surprise wins

Newcastle United fans have urged their side to respond after relegation rivals Burnley and Sheffield United picked up unlikely victories.

The Magpies are now just six points clear of the relegation zone following a 10-match winless run in the Premier League.

Steve Bruce's side last tasted victory with the late home win over West Brom on December 12, and have been warned by Newcastle United Supporters' Trust that they are 'sleepwalking' to their third relegation of the Mike Ashley era.

These fears were only heightened on Wednesday night as relegation rivals picked up points. Burnley came from behind to secure a thrilling victory over in-form Aston Villa, with Chris Wood grabbing the winner.

Sheffield United - who only picked up their first league victory of the season against the Magpies almost three weeks ago - earned a surprise win at title-chasers Manchester United. It is now three wins in their last four in all competitions for Chris Wilder's side who are bidding to pull off the unlikeliest of escapes.

It could have been even worse for the Magpies, as Fulham and Brighton played out a goalless draw at The Amex Stadium.

With relegation rivals beginning to show form, this is how United fans responded on Wednesday night:

'All away from home'

'Sleepwalking into the Championship'

'Deep trouble'

'We remain stagnant'

'Guess Burnley didn't get the memo'

'Take a hard look'

'We better start winning'
