Deep-fried pigs in blankets and battered mince pies on the Christmas menu at Whitley Bay chippy Pantrini’s

If you've ever wondered what your Christmas dinner would taste like deep-fried, you have the chance to find out if you head to the North Tyneside coast this festive season.

Popular fish and chip shop Pantrini's has brought back its unique Christmas menu full of battered twists on yuletide classics, from turkey and pigs in blankets to sprouts and even mince pies. The Whitley Bay restaurant, which celebrated its 100th birthday earlier this year, has conjured up some new never-before-seen creations for its most recent festive selection after last year's unconventional snacks proved popular with customers.

It's a menu that's not for the faint-hearted - but staff at the chippy have insisted that their deep-fried delicacies are a "must-try", with the brand new additions to this year's menu branded "absolutely unreal". Here's what's food menu at Pantrini’s this Christmas, including battered bites, burgers, and roast potatoes with a twist.

Battered pigs in blankets

They’re a must-have on the Christmas dinner plate for many of us - but have you ever had your pigs in blankets deep-fried? Served up coated in batter with a gravy dip, Pantrini’s twist on the sausage and bacon staple - that somehow manage to make you even more likely than usual to slip into a food coma over the festive season - has made a comeback after being one of the most popular menu items last year.

Battered sprouts

They can prove one of the more divisive additions to a festive meal - but however you feel about Brussels sprouts, perhaps trying them this way will change your mind. Another Christmas dinner staple that’s been given the deep-fry treatment and is returning after proving popular on last year's menu, Pantrini’s sprouts come covered in crispy batter - and staff describe them as a "must-try".

Battered mince pie

Another new addition to the Pantrini’s festive menu, this one is sure to prove particularly divisive among diners - but the team insist that their deep-fried mince pies have already been getting “rave reviews”.
