A Northumberland pub is reopening following a deep clean after one of its customers tested positive for coronavirus.
The Burton House, in Cramlington, closed its doors on Wednesday to carry out a thorough clean of the premises after being informed a customer had contracted the virus.
Those who have been in contact with the visitor have been notified through the track and trace system.
Under the Government's rules, pub owners do not have to close their premises if a positive case is identified.
However, the owners of the High Pit Road pub took the 'precautionary decision' to temporarily close to protect the safety of its staff and customers.
A deep clean of The Burton House and its beer garden have now been completed with the pub to open its doors to customers once again from 2.30pm on Friday.
A statement on Facebook reads: "Following a member of the public testing positive for Covid-19 who had been at The Burton House, we took the precautionary decision to close our premises temporarily.
"After consulting with Public Health England and being advised I did not need to close, we are ready for opening again. Covid-19 was not contracted from here just to make it clear.
"The whole pub and garden have been deep cleaned to the best standard. Nothing has been untouched and I feel very confident in reopening.
"Thank you to all my customers in supporting my decision to close and a massive thank you to my staff for your constant hard work throughout these difficult times for everyone. I believe i made the right choice in my actions these past 24 hours."
