Deebo Samuel to Bill Belichick: ‘I’ll see you in a month, my man’

Deebo Samuel had an extremely confident reaction to his meeting with the New England Patriots. The South Carolina receiving prospect apparently left Gillette Stadium feeling like he’d be back.

“Hey Billy. I’ll see you in a month, my man,” Samuel said on his Instagram story earlier this week.

Did Samuel get the impression that Bill Belichick intends to draft him at the end of April?

Ahead of the 2019 draft, Samuels made an appearance on NFL Network, where he fielded a question about his comments after the visit with the Patriots.

“I thought [Belichick] was like a real, real serious coach, like don’t smile a lot. When I met him, he was a little laughy and gave me a little smile and I mean we had a real good conversation there,” he told the NFL Network hosts.

Typically, broadcasting the Patriots’ interest can be enough to end that interest. So in theory, by saying New England wants him, Samuel may have lessened his chances of landing with the Patriots.

His comments make him an interesting prospect to watch during the upcoming draft, especially considering how doggedly the Patriots have pursued receivers in free agency and on the trade market. Their depth chart is still light with Julian Edelman, Phillip Dorsett, Bruce Ellington, Maurice Harris, Braxton Berrios and Damoun Patterson.
