Dedryck Boyata's camp leave Celtic in the dark over Hertha Berlin interest

Celtic have not been made aware of Hertha Berlin’s moves for Dedryck Boyata.

The Belgian international’s representatives are permitted by transfer rules to discuss any potential move for their client with suitors without the need to inform the Scottish champions as his contract at Parkhead expires at the end of the season.

Interim boss Neil Lennon stated at the weekend he’s hopeful of persuading the defender to stay, but sources in Germany have indicated that the Bundesliga outfit are close to reaching an agreement to sign the 28-year-old on a free transfer in the summer.

Meanwhile, Kristoffer Ajer insists Celtic's stunning Hampden record will count for nothing against Aberdeen next week.

The Hoops have won their last NINE straight shootouts at Hampden in the past two-and-a-half years on their way collecting a trio of Betfred League Cups and two Scottish Cups during a period of domestic dominance.

Aberdeen have been their victims on three separate occasions within that glory sequence, but Ajer is adamant none of that matters when the sides clash again this upcoming weekend.

He said: “We’ve done well at Hampden recently, but that’s forgotten about now.

“There’s a new game coming up there next weekend and it’s one we have to win.

“We have our targets this season and we have a massive game coming up against Aberdeen.

“We know we are going to have to be 100 per cent up for it if we are going to win the game. Hopefully we can do that.

“There’s a lot of tough teams. For example, Livingston made it very difficult for us again on Saturday. It’s the second 0-0 we have had with them this season and that tells you a lot about their defending.

“I think there’s a lot of great teams, but Aberdeen is one of the toughest.”
