Dedryck Boyata denies kissing team-mate during Bundesliga return

Hertha Berlin defender Dedryck Boyata has been forced to deny ‘kissing’ Liverpool loanee Marko Grujic’s face during the return of Bundesliga action last weekend.

The Belgian was seen getting close to his team-mate while awaiting a corner delivery in the first half of his side’s 3-0 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday.

Boyata has since denied allegations that he planted a kiss on Grujic, instead revealing that he was whispering tactical instructions to his colleague.

In a post on Instagram accompanied by footage of the incident, the former Celtic man wrote: “It wasn’t a kiss, neither a celebration.

“I apologise for putting my hands on @grujicmarko face. I was giving him instructions about a set piece.

“We must definitely be careful now that we play under this situation. We have to adapt our way to play or celebrate.”

Hertha ended a three-match winless run as they took to the field for the first time in over two months on Saturday.
