Declassified footage shows the extraordinary moment the US appears to sink an Iranian mine-laying ship near the Strait of Hormuz.
President Donald Trump said the consequences for Iran will be “at a level never seen before” if no action is taken to remove any remaining mines, while Iran has launched what its state media called the "most intense and heaviest" barrage since the start of the conflict.
Central Command said in a post to X on Tuesday (10 February): “U.S. forces are degrading the Iranian regime's ability to project power at sea and harass international shipping."
The Strait of Hormuz is the only connection from the Persian Gulf to open ocean and plays a vital role in the transportation of oil across the world.
