Declan Rice urged to join Man City as Bernardo Silva transfer concern raised

Here are your Manchester City evening headlines for Thursday, June 22.

Rice urged to snub Arsenal and join City

Former England midfielder Danny Murphy has advised Declan Rice to turn down advances from Arsenal this summer and seal a move to City. The Blues, according to widespread reports, are plotting a formal offer for the West Ham United captain, who has been identified as Arsenal's top midfield target.

The Gunners have already seen two bids for the 24-year-old rejected, including a club-record offer. City, as reported by the Manchester Evening News last week, have been exploring the possibility of making a move for the England midfielder.

And in the event of City lodging a formal bid, Murphy believes Rice should jump at the opportunity to seal a move to M11, describing the prospect of joining the Premier League champions a "no-brainer". West Ham are understood to be holding out for around £100million.

Carragher shares Bernardo concern

Former Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher has admitted that he is concerned by the amount of mounting interest in Premier League players from Saudi Arabia amid reports linking Bernardo Silva with a move to the Gulf nation.

Chelsea ace N'Golo Kante has agreed to join Al-Ittihad while fellow Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech, Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace and Wolves' Ruben Neves also have offers on the table to complete moves to Saudi Arabia. City ace Bernardo is now the latest name to be linked with a move to the country, which has already managed to secure the services of fellow Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo, of course.

Bernardo, despite not being out-of-contract at City until the summer of 2025, has been heavily linked with an exit in recent months. Barcelona have been considered as the favourite to secure his signature but reports of Saudi interest means the Spanish club could miss out.

However, Carragher has expressed why he believes it is important for the 28-year-old to continue playing in Europe.
