Declan Rice led messages of support for former West Ham team-mate Sebastian Haller after the forward was diagnosed with a testicular tumour.

Haller left West Ham to join Ajax in January 2021 and after a successful stint at the Dutch side this summer moved to Borussia Dortmund in a €31million deal as a replacement for Manchester City-bound Erling Haaland.

The 28-year-old complained of feeling unwell during training at Dortmund’s preseason training camp in Switzerland yesterday, with the tumour then discovered during medical examinations. He has since returned to Germany to undergo further tests.

Rice tweeted: “Thoughts are with you my brother! Praying you have a speedy recovery.”

Fellow West Ham man Pablo Fornals also sent his support, writing: “Our prayers with you brother! This is just another rock on your way! Get well soon.”

Former Hammer Robert Snodgrass, added: “Sending love and prayers big man.”

Haller's current club Borussia Dortmund have revealed that the 28-year-old underwent medical examinations on Monday after he complained about feeling unwell following training.

Haller said on Twitter: "Thank you all for your many messages of support and affection since yesterday's announcement. My family and I thank you. I will now focus on my recovery to come back stronger."

A testicular tumour was discovered during Haller's examinations, with further tests scheduled to take place in a specialist medical facility over the coming days.
