Declan Rice in Rangers title celebration as 55 quip sends Ibrox legend Ally McCoist into raptures

Rangers legend Ally McCoist was left in raptures after Declan Rice offered a pointed title quip following Celtic's loss to Ross County.

The West Ham midfielder appeared on TalkSPORT to discuss his side's extraordinary form under David Moyes.

A win over Tottenham lifted the Hammers into the top four, though the manager insists that a Champions League place is not within their reach.

Rice, who represented Ireland at international level before switching to England, discussed Moyes' impact, the dressing room atmosphere and cult hero Tomas Soucek.

But he couldn't resist a mention of Rangers, with Steven Gerrard's side on the verge of the title and McCoist on the other end of the line.

Before signing off Rice asked: "Can I ask Ally something?

"How does it feel to celebrate 55 titles for Rangers at the end of this season?"

Unsurprisingly that went down a treat with the Ibrox legend, who responded with typical enthusiasm.

McCoist said: "On ye go Dec, you'll do for me boy!"

And the pundit even had time to reference the Hammers' goal celebration against Tottenham that saw Rice and his team-mates mime playing instruments.

McCoist laughed: "And before you go anywhere, how about this for a name for your band: Irons Maiden!

"I've come up with a belter!"
