It's been another eventful week for Liverpool Football Club, so let's start with the Carabao Cup final at Wembley. What did you make of the performance and how important was it for the Reds to win that cup?
I thought it was a high quality match between arguably two of the top-five sides in European football currently.
The late withdrawal of Thiago wasn’t helpful and I felt it definitely unsettled us in the early stages, but as we adapted to the late change to the starting XI, I felt we gained an element of control and created some excellent chances (as did Chelsea to be fair), but I felt we tired and probably had settled for a shoot-out come the second period of extra-time.
It's great to win trophies and this current side deserves to add a fair few more titles to the ones they’ve already won. Granted it’s the least important of the four trophies on offer at the start of the season, but you can’t win the 'quad' without the League Cup!

Jurgen Klopp made a whole host of changes for the FA Cup match against Norwich City, but still delivered a fairly routine win. What do you make of the depth in the squad now and of those not playing every week, who stands out for you?
I think we’ve seen the strength of the squad in the last six weeks with the game-changing substitutions against Cardiff, Norwich in the league and Inter Milan.
In my opinion, this is the strongest squad Liverpool have assembled in many a year (possibly ever) and the options available to Jurgen are plentiful. It will allow plenty of opportunities to keep the team fresh and hopefully challenging on all fronts until the end of the season.
Away from the obvious Kostas Tsimikas (who has been excellent when standing in for Robbo this season) and Harvey Elliott, I thought Curtis Jones had an excellent first half against Norwich and with the niggles our more senior midfielders unfortunately seem to pick up on a far too regular basis, he could play a big part for the remainder of the campaign, if he can build on that impressive 45 minutes and stay fit himself.
Luis Diaz has only been at the club a month and has already got his first winners' medal. What have you made of him so far and how do you see his arrival affecting the way things shape up in attack?
I'm really excited about him. He’s looked like a Liverpool player from minute one. His movement, work rate and touch are world class and it looks like he’s only going to get better as he settles into his new environment and gets to know his team-mates and the club.
With Jota and now Diaz you can see the front three evolving and we’ve become a lot less reliant on Mane, Bobby and Salah as a result, which can only be good for our long-term success.
Liverpool will have to be pretty much flawless if they are going to beat Manchester City to the Premier League title. Do you think it's possible with the games that the Reds have still got to play, while still fighting in two other competitions?
I'm not sure we’ll need to be totally flawless until the end of the season in the league, as I think City have been showing signs of feeling the pressure in the last couple of weeks and I can see them dropping a few more points before we play them in early April.
What’s important is that we stay breathing down their necks and keep within striking distance to capitalise on those slips.
It won’t be easy to be flawless (or nearly) but I think with the squad currently at Klopp's disposal and the momentum we are creating, this side is more than capable of maintaining and stretching the current fine form until the end of the season and hopefully to title glory.
Fans are still sweating over new contracts being offered and agreed for both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. Do you think the club should be looking to hold onto both or make changes?
In an ideal world you’d keep both, but I think economically at their ages it’s unlikely we’d renew both their contracts and I can see one of them leaving in the summer, so some transfer fee can be recouped, with the other (probably Salah) signing a new deal.
I think Diaz was a summer target, but Spurs' interest brought forward our own and I guess the plan was to replace one of Salah and Mane with him.
Success breeds popularity, so there will be no shortage of players wanting to join Jurgen Klopp's team in the summer. If you could pick one or two to become Reds for the start of next season, who would they be?
I think we need to add to the midfield, as Henderson isn’t getting any younger and we haven’t replaced Gini Wijnaldum.
Despite being very talented, Naby Keita has never really delivered consistently and Thiago, although an unbelievable footballer, is never fit for long.
With that in mind and although it is quite obvious, I’d be looking at Jude Bellingham to add legs, creativity and goals.
Declan Rice is another name I'd be interested in, as I think he’s a talented holding midfielder and one of the few modern players who looks like a captain and a leader.
I think it’s important to look for the next Henderson and Milner in terms of setting the right example on and off the pitch.
Unfortunately, I can’t see us spending £200million on them both, so just Bellingham will do!
Given that no-one has ever pulled off the quadruple before, do you realistically think Liverpool can do it this season? If not, what do you think they will end the season with?
We are in March and it’s still possible, which in itself is a fantastic achievement.
I think the league is going to be the hardest one to win and the backlog of games we’ll have if we continue to progress in the FA Cup won’t help. Realistically I’d be delighted with three, but I wouldn’t rule out this side doing the impossible.
Finally, when Liverpool's 30-year league title drought was ended, there wasn't a supporter in the ground to see it. What would Liverpool winning the title this season mean to you personally?
Winning the league was great and it was nice to finally secure that long overdue title number 19, however it definitely wasn’t the same as it would have been (without Covid).
I can’t help but think we missed out on that moment in the ground, when we knew it was won and the wait was over. That embrace with those around us, the trophy lift, the lap of honour, the post-match pint with our mates and the trophy parade we’d all dreamt of for years.
I guess winning it this season or sometime soon with us all in the ground would give us all closure.
And with the experience we’ve all lived through the last few years, it would make it even sweeter.
