Declan Gallagher to St Mirren back ON as Aberdeen defender involved in dramatic transfer reversal

St Mirren will sign Declan Gallagher on a two year deal. The Buddies pulled the plug on the transfer earlier today but the move is back on after the player and his representatives went back to the Paisley club this evening.

The deal for the Aberdeen defender should now be concluded before they head to Northern Ireland for their pre-season trip next week. The St Mirren board had decided to walk away after initial talks but have now decided to back boss Stephen Robinson after he urged them to get a deal done. Gallagher will now terminate his Aberdeen contract for a move to the Buddies. The former Scotland defender previously played under Robinson at Motherwell.

His departure comes on another busy day for the Dons as they kickstarted their pre-season preparations and added Derby County keeper Kelle Roos to Goodwin's rebuild. Goodwin's side beat Buckie Thistle 2-1 in a friendly earlier on Saturday before the club announced they'd signed the Dutch shot-stopper on a two-year contract.

He becomes the club's sixth signing of the window following the arrivals of Ylber Ramadani, Jayden Richardson, Liam Scales, Bojan Miovski and Anthony Stewart. Goodwin also wants rising midfield star Connor Barron tied down on a new contract amid interest from Premiership champions Celtic and Serie A side Bologna.
