TV presenter Dec Donnelly and his family were reportedly targeted by professional burglars who attempted to break into their £5 million house in west London.

The gang tried to enter the property while Donnelly, 45, his wife Ali, 43, and two-year-old daughter Isla were sleeping in the early hours of yesterday.

But they failed to force open iron gates at the front of the seven-bedroom home.

The criminals sped away in a car moments before police arrived at 1am on Tuesday following a 999 call.

A source told The Sun that Donnelly — one half of Britain’s Got Talent and I’m A Celebrity presenting duo Ant and Dec — was not disturbed by the burglars and neither was his wife.

Forensic officers were seen yesterday in the upmarket area as plain-clothes detectives conducted door-to-door inquiries and viewed CCTV.

It is believed Donnelly bought the house for £1.9m in 2006.

Scotland Yard said: “Police were called at approximately 12.40am to reports of an attempted burglary at a residential property.

“Officers attended. The suspects had left the scene prior to police arrival. There was no evidence that they had gained access to the property.

“Inquiries are ongoing. At this early stage, there have been no arrests.”

A spokesman for Donnelly declined to comment.
