Declan Devine won't rule out shock return, explains James Talbot absence

Declan Devine says the door is open to Aymen Ben Mohamed - if the former Bohemians man wants to return to Dalymount Park.

Ben Mohamed lined out for Bohs in 2016 after spells with UCD and Longford Town.

He left for Tunisian side ES Tunis and then played in France and Turkey.

The Tunisia international is currently training with Bohs to get his fitness up for a camp in France for out-of-contract players.

“He’s just training. He’s going to a camp in France next week - a PFA camp there,” said Devine.

Asked if a return to Bohs was a possibility, he replied: “Listen, it’s always an option here.

“We’d always be interested in speaking to him if nothing happens in France, absolutely.

“But I think his main focus at the minute is to try and get himself fit to go to the training camp, a PFA French training camp.

“I think he is potentially looking at something in Ligue One, which shows you the potential of the player.

“If nothing happens in France, then we certainly would be having a different conversation.”

Devine added: “He’s been brilliant in training, a great lad. But we have just opened our door and let him use it as a vehicle to get fit.”

Meanwhile, Devine revealed that an injury forced goalkeeper James Talbot out of the senior Ireland training camp in Bristol earlier this week.

However, the netminder should be fit for Friday’s clash with Shelbourne.

“He didn't go, he picked up a strain in Dundalk in the warm-up,” said Devine.

“Thursday was the first day he was on the pitch, so it was a case where we couldn't take a risk and there was no point in him going there to watch training.

“We had him assessed all week and he was able to take part on Thursday but it was a tight hamstring and it wasn't worth the risk to send him away. He will be fine for Friday.”
