Declan Devine says best is yet to come from striker Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe after first Derry goal

Declan Devine believes the best is yet to come from Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe who bagged his first goal for Derry City this week.

The striker- a former Millwall and Leyton Orient youth -  joined the Candystripes in February on an initial six-month loan from Colchester United.

And his performance when opening his scoring account in Tuesday’s EA Sports Cup win over Longford Town left Devine purring.

“Junior has been outstanding for us, whether he has scored or not,” said the Derry boss ahead of tonight’s derby clash with Finn Harps.

Finn Harps boss Ollie Horgan plays down Finn Harps chances against Derry despite midweek success

“He’s had a huge impact in games and is a fantastic talent. He gets us on the front foot and always asks questions of defenders.

“He has played a lot of minutes for us but he was sensational at times against Longford. He’s a young boy but can only get better.”

Devine added: “I was delighted with the performance against Longford, who are a very good side. We played some really good football.

"We’re looking forward to the games coming thick and fast this month. Tonight’s derby is a big one, we’ll bring a big crowd and probably fill the ground.”
