Whether you're an early starter who likes to put it up just after Bonfire Night, or someone who leaves it to the very last-minute, there's no doubting that decorating your tree marks the true start of Christmas.
We asked our readers to share photos of their lovely Christmas trees – and there are some very impressive efforts. From carefully-co-ordinated affairs that wouldn't look out of place in an upmarket department store, to more homespun numbers using decorations passed down through the years, we think each and every tree is special in its own way.
Some readers also took the opportunity to sneak in pictures of their pets - which is always welcome - and we were particularly impressed by the reader who used a recycled wooden pallet to superb effect.
