Decision on India's claim to host Universe Bodybuilding Championship put on hold

RAIPUR: The decision on India’s claim to host NAC Universe Bodybuilding Championship was reserved for the 2023 NAC Congress to be held in Germany after Turkey and Spain managed to obtain the 2023 and 2024 events respectively on the basis of majority.

Chhattisgarh’s Sanjay Sharma, who was one of the jury members in the Ms & Mr Universe 2022 in Germany from November 25 to 27 and represented India in the general council meeting here, had put India’s claim for 2023.

However, Turkey emerged winner for the 2023 championship on the basis of a majority. Spain claimed to host the 2024 championship spoiling India's claim. It was decided in the meeting that India’s claim for the 2025 championship will be put in the NAC Congress meeting to be held in November 2023 in Germany.

Sharma said that India will put a proposal to host the championship in Bengaluru in 2023 in the next meeting.

Earlier, in the Ms & Mr Universe 2022 organised in Cuxhaven, Germany, Norbert Menesi of Hungary won the title in Body Overall category, Melanie Kuch of Germany won Figure Overall title and Daniel Somogyi of Hungary won Classic Physique Overall title. Maien Aloui won the Bikini Shape Overall title in the championship.
