Decision made on future of Nottingham Forest midfielder - report

Nottingham Forest midfielder Alfa Semedo will not be staying at the City Ground beyond the end of this season, according to reports.

The 22-year-old is on loan from Benfica and has made 24 appearances in all competitions for the Reds this term (including 10 league starts), scoring two goals.

However, Portuguese media outlet Record says Forest have no plans to make the move permanent this summer.

The report states that Semedo is set to return to his parent club, though is likely to be on the move again ahead of next season.

It is said that the player, who had a loan spell with Espanyol in Spain last term, is under contract at Benfica until 2023 and has a release clause of 60million euros.

Discussing Semedo's Forest prospects recently, NottinghamshireLive's Sarah Clapson wrote: "The Benfica loanee has been a bit hit and miss.

"Undoubtedly has potential, but has lacked consistency.

"Looked particularly bright early on, though has lost his way a little since then.

"Wouldn’t be a surprise if he simply returns to his parent club once the season is finished."

And it looks like that may well be the case.
