December Premium Bonds winning ticket numbers picked

There are two new millionaires in the UK today as NS&I announced where the winning tickets for December's Premium Bonds draw are held.

3.4million prizes will be handed out after the draw today, December 2, including two prizes of £1million.

In total prize money of more than £98million will be awarded to those who claim this month.

The two top prizes of £1million each have gone to a ticket holder in Stockport (winning bond 309GV354472) and one in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight (winning bond 210SF254870).

There are also six winning £100,000 bonds which will go to holders in Essex Wiltshire, West Yorkshire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Tyne and Wear and Inner London.

NS&I use ERNIE to pick out winners each month at random - his initials stand for Electronic Random Number Indicator Equipment.

ERNIE has been selecting prize winners for more than 60 years and has selected winners for more than £445million in tax-free prizes.

According to NS&I: “Using light, ERNIE 5 generates random numbers that are matched against eligible Bond numbers to determine the lucky winners.

"And because it’s random, every Bond number, whether it has 8, 9, 10 or 11 digits, has a separate and equal chance of winning a prize.”

To check if you’ve won when Monday comes, you need to have your holders number as all prize and bonds are held under this.

Holders numbers are located on bond records or in your account on NS&I’s website.

The number should be either 10, nine or eight digits followed by a letter.

You can put your bond holder’s number into NS&I’s prize checker here or use the prize checker app.

You can also ask Amazon Alexa if you’ve won by saying one of these three phrases:

“Alexa, open Premium Bonds”

“Alexa, ask Premium Bonds have I won”

“Alexa, ask Premium Bonds when are the next prize draw results”
