Dec, 45, was said to be one of the first to know about the engagement in his pal's close circle of friends.
It's also expected the presenter will be best man at the wedding, reports The Mirror.
Dec was best man at Ant's wedding to Lisa Armstrong in 2006; the exes went their separate ways in 2018.
Ant and Dec have been life-long friends and co-stars.
They have been a great support to each other over the years.
Ant and Anne-Marie have been dating for almost three wonderful years.
A spokesman confirmed the engagement: "Ant and Amzie are delighted to announce their engagement.
"The proposal took place on Christmas Eve at home in a very romantic setting."
It comes after Ant's 11-year marriage to Lisa crumbled in January 2018.
Their love story closed the final chapter after 23 years together.
But Ant went onto find love with Anne-Marie just months after his marriage broke down.
They have a lovely home together with their dogs.
