Dec 9, 2025: ‘Very poor’ air during evening rush-hour in Yusuf Sarai

For this episode of Aaj Ka AQI, Newslaundry visited the Yusuf Sarai market to document the air quality index (AQI) during the evening rush hour on Tuesday.

The closest CPCB monitoring station at Lodhi Road pegged the AQI at 244, or ‘Poor’ category, while our air quality monitoring device showed 350 in the ‘Very Poor’ category.

A recent study found that people travelling in the city’s after-work rush hour inhale nearly 40 percent higher levels of PM2.5 and 23 percent higher levels of PM10 than morning commuters. Meanwhile, another recent study also found that vehicular emissions are the most significant contributor to pollution in Delhi and noted that stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana was “significantly subdued” this year.
