Dec 25, 2025: Delhi struggles with ‘poor’ AQI as L-G blames Kejriwal

For this episode of Aaj Ka AQI, Newslaundry stood inside Hauz Khas Village to document the air quality index (AQI) at 10.30 am.

The closest CPCB monitoring station at Sri Aurobindo Marg pegged the AQI at 162, or the ‘moderate’ category. It pegged PM2.5 at 162 and PM10 at 112. In contrast, our portable air quality monitoring device pegged the AQI at 273, or in the ‘poor’ category. Our monitor pegged PM2.5 at 112 and PM10 at 126.

Despite the capital’s ongoing battle against poor air quality, the Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena, wrote a letter to former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal earlier this week, holding his government responsible for the current state of affairs, even though they no longer hold office.

He wrote: “11 years of neglect and criminal inaction on you and your Government’s part are responsible for the emergency air situation in the Capital.”

As Newslaundry noted in this analysis, the L-G has offered no advice or criticism of the current BJP government in Delhi for its inability to address the city’s air pollution crisis.

This show is part of a collaborative campaign to tackle air pollution. Here’s how you can join the Fight To Breathe. Click here to power this campaign.
