Deborah Meaden slams troll for saying she 'looks old' as 'age happens'

Dragon's Den star Deborah Meaden has hit back at an online troll who said she looked old.

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant, 61, was taken aback when someone commented on her Twitter page: "How come Deborah Meaden looks so old if she's always eating perfectly and has these big ideals on sustainability with ethical values. (sic).

And the TV personality was quick to fire back, writing: "Because it’s not a beauty contest and age happens.. it’s not a desease and... another and.. this is a Business programme not a beauty contest." (sic)

Her swift rebuttal gained the approval of many of her followers who rushed to show their support for the British businesswoman.

"So sick of men judging women on looks. It’s depressingly common still" wrote one.

"He must be incredibly handsome if he feels the need to make a comment like that! I’m guessing Deborah is everything he’s not..classy, intelligent, sublime and elegant" added another.

A third person penned: "So beautiful to see @DeborahMeaden naturally aging and not pumped full of fillers and surgical stretch. What a #rolemodel for women. always looking fabulous! "

And a fourth was just one of several more who joined in to silence the troll, writing:

"Wow is he insecure much? Can't get their wee narrow minded heads around a headstrong, independent and intelligent woman. Exactly the type of female I would want my daughters looking up to."

Deborah is best known for appearing on BBC TV show Dragon's Den, where she and her fellow 'dragons' invest in business ideas that are pitched by various entrepreneurs looking for financial backing.

She has been on the show since series three in 2006, and currently sits alongside Peter Jones Tej Lalvani, Touker Suleyman and Sarah Davies, as the established serial business moguls looking for the next big thing to invest in.
