Gospel singer Deborah McCrary had suffered a stroke in 2013 and her family confirm her passing, aged 67, "with deep sorrow".
A spokesperson for the musical group confirmed that Deborah died on Wednesday and her cause of death was not immediately released, according to Rolling Stone.
Deborah, along with her sisters, had released a number of records as well as providing gospel vocals for a variety of artists, including Sheryl Crow and Carrie Underwood.
The McCrary Sisters said in a statement, reported in the US media: "It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the passing of our beloved sister Deborah."
Rounder Records stated their condolences for the family in a statement, which read: "We are saddened by the news of Deborah McCrary's passing. Our hearts go out to her family during this difficult time."
Among those leading the tributes was country singer Margo Price.
She wrote on Twitter: "I’m saddened to hear of the passing of the legendary Deborah McCrary of the @mccrarysisters It was an honor to work with her and a huge loss to the Nashville music community and beyond."

The Americana Music Association also added their deepest sympathies after hearing the news. They wrote in a tweet: "Today we are mourning the loss of a dear friend and integral part of the Americana community, Deborah McCrary. Always a healer, both as a nurse and through song, she will be missed. Our deepest condolences go out to the @mccrarysisters and their families at this time."
Deborah suffered a stroke in 2013, which almost brought her career to an end.
Speaking about that time, she said that it was her spirituality that helped her through.
Deborah said: "I remembered that God does things for a reason. That's where I was supposed to be, with my sisters by my side.
"I thank God for my sisters because they've helped me in a lot of ways, and that whole experience gave me a deeper understanding of just how much I love being with them."
