With a whole new decade just beginning, shoppers all across the country are heading to key department stores to kick off their 2020 in style - and enjoy the last day off before going back to work.

For anyone planning on doing a bit of retail therapy in a department store, we'd recommend checking the opening times before venturing out as many retailers will be operating slightly different opening hours than usual today for New Year's Day.

In fact, John Lewis has even closed most of its stores for the Bank Holiday.

Whether you're checking timings for popular chains like Debenhams and John Lewis, or fancy a browse in upmarket stores like Harvey Nicholas and Selfridges, you can find all the times here.

• 1 January (New Year's Day) - Debenhams will be open but some will operate with reduced Bank Holiday hours.
• 2 January - Normal operating hours resume

M&S

John Lewis

• 1 January (New Year's Day) - The Knightsbridge store will open from 11am to 7pm. All other stores will be closed.
• 2 January - All stores will open as normal.
