And it's a massive boost to the 100+ staff who feared for their jobs during the recent restructuring from the high street giant.
The Post understands that a deal has been concluded to enable the department store to trade at its current premises until 2025.
And it's also understood that their tenancy could extend even further into the future- if trading conditions are favourable.
Today's news is a huge lift to the retail sector in Ayr, which is still trying to recover from the closures of the likes of Mothercare and Hourstons in recent months.
Earlier this year Debenhams went into administration with control passing to the struggling department-store chain’s lenders. And 50 stores were earmarked for closure within three to five years, putting around 4,000 jobs at risk.
But so far, the store in Ayr, has been given the green light to continue trading.
