Deaths of two men in Paisley being treated as murder-suicide as victim is named

Police are treating the deaths of two men in Paisley as a murder-suicide.

Emergency services were called to the house on Lanfine Road around 7pm on Tuesday, April 16.

James Mooney, 60, and a 23-year-old man were found dead within the property.

James's death is being treated as murder while the death of the 23-year-old is not being treated as suspicious.

Police say the incident was contained within the house and they're not looking for anyone else in connection with it.

Detective Inspector Erin Renwick of the Major Investigation Team said: “Following post mortem examinations the death of the 60 year-old man is being treated as murder.

"He can now be named as James Mooney and his family has been informed.

“The death of the 23 year-old man is not being treated as suspicious.

“Although our detailed investigation is continuing to establish the exact circumstances, we do believe that it was contained within this house and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”

A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
