Death, taxes and June dominance from DeVante Parker

DeVante Parker is back at it again, folks. Just when you thought you were out, Parker pulls you back in. The reports from Dolphins mini-camp this week (and last week and the week before that — you get the point) will tell you that Parker has been the Dolphins’ best skill player. If it sounds familiar, it should.

Parker has consistently been a star in Miami. The problem? He’s been a star in the offseason — not when the team is playing for keeps.

And so it goes, another offseason of Parker filling Dolphins fans’ heads with visions of long touchdowns, “Moss-ing” defenders in the red zone and providing fireworks to a passing offense that desperately needs an “alpha” receiver to run volume through.

Will this year be any different once the team straps up for real? It’s hard to say, but keeping Parker healthy until Week 1 against Baltimore would be a step in the right direction. Beyond that, Miami’s new coaching staff at least gives a new layer to Parker’s potential breakout. With so much physical potential, DeVante Parker has the ability to be a thousand yard receiver.

Perhaps the new staff can connect with Parker personally in a way that Adam Gase never could. Getting Parker calibrated mentally is the key to unleashing his physical upside — the floor is yours, Brian Flores.
