Within nine months of the PlayStation 5 release, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is officially heading to PC, continuing the quick-launch approach used for its predecessor.
As revealed during Sony’s latest State of Play on Feb. 12, Kojima Productions is once again following a similar release strategy for the sequel’s PC launch. The original Death Stranding debuted on PlayStation in Nov. 2019 and made its way to PC about eight months later, arriving in July 2020.
With the sequel following a similar timeline, Kojima Productions appears committed to a PS-first, PC-later strategy rather than a simultaneous global launch.
This standalone sequel expands Sam’s arsenal with a fresh lineup of tools, weapons, and vehicles. Joined by his allies from Drawbridge, Sam embarks on a new mission to reconnect Australia to the Chiral Network away from the United States. Surrounded by hostile threats, he must fight, sneak, and sprint his way through danger while enduring natural disasters such as earthquakes, sandstorms, and forest fires. The devastating Timefall, along with multiple new buildings, also returns, as Sam once again races to prevent humanity’s extinction.
The Social Strand System makes its comeback, linking players worldwide and allowing them to influence one another’s worlds in meaningful ways. We also praised the system in our review. Actions taken by one player can ripple outward, shaping the experience of others across the globe as porters create the most optimal route to deliver fragile and timely packages.

On the technical front, the sequel brings enhanced visual and performance options. Players can experience the world in 4K resolution with ultrawide monitor support, including 21:9 for both gameplay and in-game cutscenes on PC, as well as 32:9 Super Ultrawide support.
The game’s PC version offers full mouse and keyboard customization, including remappable keybinds, while also supporting DualSense controllers with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for a more immersive feel. Audio options are equally robust, featuring 3D Audio via Dolby Access, DTS Sound Unbound, and Windows Sonic for Headphones.
Kojima Productions has also confirmed that additional modes and features will be available at launch on both PC and PS5. Further details are expected next month.
For PC players, the wait will be relatively short compared to traditional console exclusivity windows that often stretch beyond a year. The move also reinforces Sony’s evolving approach to major exclusive releases, where flagship titles debut on the console before expanding to PC to reach a broader audience.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach launches on March 19, 2026, ushering in the next chapter of Kojima Productions’ ambitious saga and setting the stage for another bold, genre-blending experience.
